近日,有同学给我留言说自己总是搞不清楚so that, so…that…等相关短语的意思及用法,总觉得脑子中有很多相似的短语意思都一样,一到实际应用中,碰到问题总是理不清楚,在这里安颖老师就针对这位同学可能也是很多同学的问题对这一专题做一个详细整理,帮助大家理清思路,其实一共就6种情况,具体用法如下:
1. so that 目的是,以便于
2. so as to 目的是,以便于
3. in order that 目的是,以便于
4. in order to 目的是,以便于
5. so…that… 如此…以至于
6. such…that… 如此…以至于
（1）从上述信息可以看出表示目的是,以便于的词组有4个,分别是so that, so as to, in order that, in order to,其中so that和in order that都是后面要用从句,而so as to和in order to后面用的是短语,这是他们的主要区别,下面我们通过例句具体掌握一下:
I shall write down your telephone number so that I may not forget.
I shall write down your telephone number so as to not forget.
我要把你的电话号码记下来，以免忘记。
They worked harder than usual in order that they could finish the work ahead of time.
They worked harder than usual in order to finish the work ahead of time.teacheray.com
他们比往常更加努力工作，为了能提前完成工作。
（2）表示如此…以至于…的词组是so…that…和such…that…,这二者主要区别在于so + 形/副+that 从句,而such +名词+ that从句,如果名词是单数就要用such a /an…that,请看以下例句:
It is so interesting a novel that all of us want to read it.
这是一本十分有意思的书，大家都想看。
The place is so cold that nothing can grow in winter.
这地方太冷，冬天什么都不长。
He gave such important reasons that he was excused.
他说出了这么重要的理由，得到大家的谅解。
